Hello everyone,
I'm new to this, so bare with me!

My boyfriend and I will be moving to the Sanford area this June. As he will be working at the Sanford/Orlando International Airport it seems Sanford and Lake Mary are our two living options. I currently live in Connecticut and am not familiar with this area at all. I've done lots of research online and found that Sanford is not the safest place to live? There are good and bad parts to any city or town, depending on who you talk to I guess. I've been looking at apartments in Lake Mary lately but have not found a whole lot. Safety and cleanliness are my two main concerns!

Also, I will need a job and will eventually go back to school. Because the economy is in the state it is in, I will take what I can get. My main concern, for now, is his commute to work, hopefully making it a short one.

I will appreciate any and all feedback!

There are safe areas of Sanford but Lake Mary would be my first choice. Check out Sun Lake, Pebble Creek, Notting Hill and the Regency Park at Lake Mary.

Allshookup - you're right, there are good/bad to any place - folks on this board can help you avoid the bad. Here's my suggestions....

#1 - Enlist the help of a good realtor who knows the area well. You'll find several on this board.
#2 - You could also consider Oviedo as a possible location. Probably a 15 minute commute (dependingon traffic) to Orl/San airport via the 417. Also, this location would put you right between your bf's work and UCF (you mentioned you wanted to return to school).
#3 - I've not been in the market for an apt for several years, but if you have the means to do so, I would encourage you to look into investing in a single family residence. Prices are very low at the present - great time to get in the market.

You've come to the right place for good advice - there's a lot of helpful people here.

Yes, do not confine your search to just Sanford and Lake Mary. Oviedo, Winter Springs, Altamonte Springs, Longwood, Debarry would ball be reasonable commutes to SOIA.
