Hi LadyRobyn,
Thanks for the note. I am glad you guys are managing alright there in Duncan considering the mess. You are right, Ft. Sill was hit hard. Whenever you get the chance to come to post, you will be surprise at how much the ice storm had damaged those beautiful trees. Some contract guys came by and started clearing up the pathways to our neighborhood. I was told that there will be about 1,800 soldiers coming to haul away the limbs and all. I am going to keep a lot for firewoods. Might happen again. Hope not! Well, my husband and I decided to re-name Ft. Sill to Ft. Chill and Oklahoma to Icelahoma. We're thinking of raising our renter's insurance for future natural disasters' damages.

Take care y'all and see you next time.

I saw a generator at the RR crossing... ... guess the BNSF crew lost power to their RR crossing-signal here close to us. Kind of strange to see a generator out in the middle of nowhere. I mean literally, it was on a secluded dirt road two miles from town.

Then again, some idgit would probably go get himself killed because he doesn't have the brains to look for trains coming.

I just heard that the Red Cross just re-open a shelter up there in Lawton.

Wow you all in Duncan look to have it way worse than here. We got a great amount of ice actually, enough to accent the snow but not enough to do damage. We hit 32 today, that's the warmest we've been so far. Main roads are fine, just damp. Side streets are still slushy and or snow packed. Haven't even seen the sun since Wednesday.

They'd better be careful about doing that. I've seen those things stolen right off the tracks during periods of power outages.

My next door neighbor has to use a Motorized chair to get around and we managed to run a cord over long enough to keep her charged up. She still lost all of the food in her Fridge and Freezer but she's hanging in there. When we didn't have power I cooked food for all of us on her gas stove, so we all had warm food.

We don't have NEARLY as many limbs to clean up as some folks...

I have to give a HUGE thumbs up and Thanks to all of the power companies from surrounding counties AND Texas who came in to Duncan and worked around the clock trying to get us back up and running.

Duncan is still a mess but it is getting better.

Oh yeah... and the Crape Myrtle is getting a CREW CUT after this!!!!

Saturday and Sunday were awful...the only sounds in the dark were snapping limbs, exploding trees and transformers blowing up...everytime the pine lost another branch the whole house would shudder. Driving around town makes me want to cry...

In your drives around town, have you seen many instances of trees or big limbs lying on houses or puncturing the roof?

I haven,t seen or heard of instances like that, at least around Duncan. But that doesn't mean it never happened.

Stillkit, I spoke with my neighbor this morning as he was leaving to volunteer at the shelter. He said they are coordinating through the OKC chapter and they could tell you for sure if we need more help. He also said that they fed a large crew out at the airport last night.

In other news... the VERY thing I had been worried about happened a short while ago. They powered up the lines on our block and the one to my other (disabled) neighbor's house shorted and caught fire. Thankfully I could see the fire from my side window so I called 911... Electric Co., Police and Fire all arrived quickly and her house didn't get damaged. *whew*

Is it too early in the day for a stiff drink?? My hands are still shaking...
