Jammie, I'm so sorry to hear that. We lost one of our "girls" earlier this year and it still hurts too much to talk about it! *HUGS* for you... http://pages.prodigy.net/jimeez/_uimages/Hugs2.gif (broken link) Give extra cuddles to your other babies... they know.

Thank you, Colleen and Kari and Robyn, it just hurts so much to lose those little ones. We just lost one a year ago in March and we were still missing her so much. We're pet parents and they are children to us. Our only boy is still with us and he has been so ill during his liftime and I swear he has more then nine lives. He's got such a loving soul and he is devastated, too. I worry about him because he is diabetic and is now at the early stages of renal failure. He'll be 16 in a couple of weeks so we've been blessed with having him all this time. But the little 4 year old passing just blew us away.

Robyn, I'm so sorry about the loss of your girl. I know Synopsis has just recently gone through the same thing.

Sorry to hear about your loss, jammie. We have fur-babies too. I know the feeling.

On another topic, the recent story of the 2 month old infant being killed by a puppy in Tulsa was really tragic.

What is wrong with people?! Do they park their brains in the garage with their cars? NO ONE should ever, EVER leave a baby or toddler alone with a dog, no matter how old the dog is, or how well-behaved it normally is. Sh*t happens, and there's no way to tell when or what form it will take. Depending on the puppy's age, it probably thought it was playing. And I can't believe that baby didn't scream at the first nip - why didn't anyone hear it? So sad for all concerned.

Redbird, thank you.

It's so surprising that a dog would do that. Our pets have always been tolerant and protective of babies or toddlers and other pets. Something up here happened that's even worse, but I don't have a link for it. A 22 year old woman was charged with killing her baby. I don't have the full facts, but it sounds like it had just been born. I swear~we are no better then animals.

It was a six month old lab. A pup. The other dog was a pug. I also cannot believe the parents, (both about 17 y.o.) did not hear the baby cry. Who leaves a 2 month old baby alone??

Gawd, its just too awful to even think about.

Did you read the follow-up story? NewsOK Mobile

As a Gramma it just chills me to the bone, and makes me sick to my stomach... The kids stayed with us in the first few weeks after Tooter was born because it IS so tiring having a newborn in the house. I don't think our baby went "unattended" for more than a few minutes at a time. Even through the night, one of us was always checking on her, making sure she hadn't rolled over in her layette, checking her breathing, etc.

I just don't understand... But I will be praying for that family.

Taco Bell was giving away free tacos yesterday to celebrate OKC's weight loss!

Oh well. Maybe we can drive to Weleetka for some of those famous chicken fried steak dinners, which by the way is Oklahoma's official state meal.

Oklahoma citizens’ diets sabotaged by “official state meal” of chicken fried steak and pecan pie

"Oklahoma State Meal"
Quote:
It was formally designated by the Oklahoma legislature in 1988. And it includes — better grab a knife and fork — cornbread, sausage and gravy, chicken fried steak, pecan pie, barbecue pork, fried okra and squash, biscuits, grits, corn, strawberries and black-eyed peas.
Ooooh! Baby! You can "sabotage" me any day... http://bestsmileys.com/eating2/5.gif (broken link)
