Do you really think anyone who wasn't an Okie would know about Perkins and Glencoe? Or would be wasting their time having a discussion like this with you, for that matter? I'm an Okie. I'll take it as a compliment that you think I know it all, but not that you think I'm a Yankee.

You don't recognize sarcasm? I hate to break it to you, but when your friends and family call you Einstein, they really don't think you're a genius.

I do. I just ignore it selectively when it comes from people like you.

Can't you find another thread to troll?

It's downtown is full and booming, I do not know of one empty store front. UWV is on the north side of downtown. Morgantown has all the big box stores OKC and Tulsa have and they have a Sam's and a huge hospital. Pretty much any chain restaurant you see in OKC or Tulsa you will find in Morgantown.

Sorry, I know this is not helping the OP but Morgantown is my second home, I still have a place just outside there.
Well, your comments surely helped the OP that Stillwater was best avoided. I'd rather have a Lowe's and a Home Depot than two Lowes, like I wish I had a Wal-mart and a Target, rather than two Wal-Marts.

Sorry StillwaterTownie, but it looked to me at this point the OP had already decided on NW OKC. But I would have chose Stillwater and then would have been close both Tulsa, OKC and Enid. Stillwater is actually a very nice town, maybe the OP could spend a day or two in Stillwater before making such an important decision. I mean what could be better than living in a great town like Stillwater and having OKC and Tulsa so close by?

Someone had mentioned that Morgantown was smaller than Stillwater and I was just pointing out that Morgantown is a lot bigger than Stillwater, this is something I know because I lived just out side of Morgantown.

Yeah, it's a good location to enjoy Oklahoma from, but, like I said, Quail Springs Mall beats everything for NW OKC, along with a better movie theater and then the zoo, horse races, casino and another good movie theater, a major museum, and yet more attractions are just a short drive away. It's been a good while since I've been to the zoo and aim to go there soon.

You're correct, NW OKC fits us better. By a cursory google map query and with the help of those who gave their two cents on Stillwater, it appears Stillwater is no closer to Enid than NW OKC is and unfortunately doesn't offer the conveniences that we would like NOT to have to commute for in the first place. In essence, we don't want to drive to conveniences on the weekends; we want to live where the conveniences (to include schools) are while I eat the opportunity cost of commuting to my job. Daddy ain't driving nowhere on the weekends, after driving all week back and forth though. NW OKC is a no-brainer for us.

I just got back from flying my wife and baby to see her side of the family in OKC. Midwest City, Tinker AFB area to be specific. I enjoy OKC very much, and would love to be stationed at tinker. I think it has everything we need to prosper as a family. Alas, that location doesn't seem to be in the cards for me (story of my life..). That said, we still intend on traveling to Stillwater and Tulsa, just to enjoy what the state has to offer. As a matter of fact, we dressed the little man on the way up there with a baby T-shirt that her family got us from Eskimo Joe's, which I'm told is a popular joint in Stillwater.

Bingo. Exactly our thought process. Not to mention Will Rogers Airport is located in OKC and is the gateway to see my side of the family, who will most likely continue to reside in the Caribbean until the end. I rather not drive an hour to have that option. Currently, it takes us 3 hours to the nearest intl airport. I'm so sick and tired of Del Rio,TX.....

If you need "big city" services like an airport then yes stick with OKC. Stillwater has a little bit more than what you would expect from a small town but that is not saying much. Its not a slam on the place, it just is what it is.

I feel you on the need to get out of small military outposts. I grew up an air force brat and had to live in exciting locales like Minot, ND (coldest place EVER). We used to joke with my dad who he made mad for us to get assigned to such a place. Likewise, we did enjoy Tinker and my dad tried for years to get reassigned there to no avail until he retired.

So if you are okay with the drive, and its a doozy, then I would just stay with OKC. But seriously, get a hybrid and lots of books-on-tape :-).
