I am looking to buy a refrigerator, washer, and dryer in the near future and have zero experience purchasing appliances. I am in the Scranton arena and looking for store recommendations. Price is a factor, but I am willing to pay a little more for good customer services. Thanks in advance.

Well I usually stick with Sears. They usually have a good appliance sale at least once a month, and if you spend a certain amt, you can put it on your sears card interest free for a year or so. I bought my washer and dryer there 10 yrs ago, the washer just went and the delivery guys told me it lasted a while in comparison to what they usually see (they also said to stay away from the new front loaders, not as great as they are hyped up to be...just an FYI). I have checked prices at Lowes and Home Depot too. But I have seen HD offer sales and change prices. When I was washer shopping recently, I looked at a washer on sale 10% off, and it was like 450.00 on sale...the next day I went again, still same sale --10% off, but the price was now 480.00.

Best advice is to price compare and also look at reviews online...most stores give people the option to write a review, or check out epinions.com or consumer reports.

Good luck!

Here's another vote for Sears. We always seem to get the best deals there and have found the Kenmore appliances to be a very good value, although they do sell many brands. They have a great website with reviews which are great tools for helping you to stay away from products that are "lemons". They often give you free delivery and I have usually had my appliances delivered within a few days.

I would shop around. talk to a salesman in each place, then go home and look online for reviews. Personally i don't care for Kenmore just because they don't actually make the appliances. they buy from other companies and re-badge them with the Kenmore name. so you don't know if you are getting GE, Frigidaire, whirlpool or any other brand.

my house is all GE, and it was all brand new in april. I had a problem with the microwave and it was promptly repaired in my home with no problems. I was pleased with their customer service.
