mod note:
Above is correct when this thread talks about other subjects that are not related to this thread the initial topic is lost.
Think of how I hope most of you guys came to this thread to seek help with these benefits. Shouldn't others come to this thread to discuss EB too.

Another thing it was sent in direct message over this politics thing.
You can discuss politics related to this bill but whatever a politician is doing that is not related to this thread is off topic.
Create your own thread if you want to talk about any topics not related to this thread.

I am trying my best to be fair but we all agreed to the terms of service.
If you suspect a bad post report it. So deletions are kept at a minimal.

Thanks Sunny

Now back to discussion of EB and this bill.....

Default nc extended unemployment

I have a question about the interview with Mr Tillis. One reason he gave for nor extending ueb was that if the budget did not pass and the goverment closed down in July un benfits would stop. Is that true because wouldn't this be federal money and already in the budget.

Even though they are federal funds, if the state actually shuts down, then there will be no one to disperse the benefits. The Employment Security Commission, who disperses the benefits, is run by the state. Therefore, if the state shuts down, no benefits.

Yes, because no one would be available in the NCESC office to administer the benefits...
