^ I hope they knock down that hugeeee section 8 housing complex and just build it up as dense as possible with lowrise buildings. (There’s zero hope of ever touching the historical single family homes on the otherside)

You're definitely talking about Southside Homes (owned by Charlotte's Housing Authority). I know that place well, I grew up there. I still remember meeting Alonzo Morning there back in the 1990s when him and a few Hornets players visited (they were there to celebrate the opening of a new basketball court that the Hornets built just off of Baltimore Avenue).
Memories aside, YES it's time for Southside Homes and Brook Hill to go. I know that many folks would hate me for being from "the hood" while still being a gentrification advocate. However, I just think that affordable housing should be done "differently".
Seigle Point in Charlotte is a prime example of how Housing Authority properties should look and feel. In my opinion, mixing 10-15% affordable housing with 85-90% market value units (in the same development) promotes better neighborhood diversity that automatically translates into better neighborhood school diversity. As for crime, any and ALL violators (regardless of race, gender, income, or education) should be evicted immediately. Seigle Point (or something similar) in my opinion will be the future for South Tryon Street's two remaining low income apartment developments.
