Atlanta is unique in that sense, with two other CBDs in the city proper rivaling downtown in office space and the largest business district in the metro area actually being outside of the city (Perimeter). That anomaly aside, SouthPark and Buckhead are analogous.

Couple quick updates on the multi phase Smoky Hollow project on the northern end of downtown.

Phase 1 is pretty close to being done (11 story residential with Publix). If I remember right tenants can move in by spring but the Publix probably won't be open until fall.

Phase 2 is well underway. The 9 story office building should have glass going on soon and the 6 story apartments are going up.

To the immediate right in the above picture is the lot where Kane won his 40 story rezoning. No details on that yet though.

You also get a nice view of North Hills here as the Advance Auto Parts tower is one floor away from being topped out I think. I believe the permits have been issued for the 35 Story Walter so that should start rising out there very soon.

There's also a couple of new and slightly revised renderings of the retail alley in phase 2 as well as the pool deck and entrance. Should be a quality project.

Miami-based Aircraft Solutions USA is establishing a new subsidiary at the Kinston-based industrial park to recycle aircraft parts and materials, a $100 million investment in exchange for state incentives that could reimburse the company up to $4.8 million.

I tend to forget that Guilford county's population currently rivals the Mecklenburg population of 1990 and the Wake county population of 1995. Between the populations of 500,000 and 600,000; Mecklenburg and Wake counties were acquiring professional sports teams. It's hard being 3rd place because it's a guaranteed underrated position no matter what.

Guilford was bigger than Wake in 1980.

Maybe. But Raleigh didn't pass Greensboro until 1994 or so.
