I'll be happy when I can FINALLY park my car at my nearest light rail stations (Woodlawn or Tyvola) and ride straight to Noda. March 2018 can't come fast enough!!!!

The Metropolitan apartment block is finally being rebuilt downtown Raleigh after the massive fire destroyed it and did signifcant damage to the Quorum condo tower next door. Not a huge project but is big for bringing more residents downtown and adding density to continue connecting Glenwood south.

RDU's Flight Plan for the Future: Vision 2040

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPmxEug3mrk

Charlotte Douglas International Airport 2.5 Billion upgrade with a new fourth parallel runway.
Over the next seven to eight years, the airport wants to widen entry roads to the upper and lower levels of the main terminal, build pedestrian sky bridges and underground walkways connecting the terminal with the main parking deck and revamp the terminal by pushing it out 80 feet for ticketing and other areas. Those projects are based on demand and anticipated needs, Cagle said. Without the investment, CLT will fall behind and the airlines, as well as passengers, will face delays because of congestion in the terminal and on the runways, according to the analysis presented at the Government Center.
Expansion of the terminal will increase the number of gates to 164 from the current 93 in several phases. In the next 10 to 12 years, the total would grow to 125.

When looking at Charlotte Region it has 80 firms from Janpan and 44 Firms from China.
The country that has the most firms in the Charlotte Region is Germany with 207 firms and 17,020 employees. We also pick up Germany firms in up state South Carolina.

That is a reason that we see Lufthansa Airlines come to Charlotte everyday.

  • The Charlotte region has the Largest concentration of international firms in the Carolinas, employing more than 50,000 workers

White Lodging, Crescent, developing hotel next to Ally Center in Charlotte | Charlotte Observer

An upscale luxury hotel about to start construction on Stonewall.

Hopefully this will be our JW Marriott. The rumored Apple store, + Whole Foods + the urban mall all in the same couple blocks would definitely fit a JW.

"Work will start in the spring on a project called the Towers of North Hills,*Kane Realty Corporation*President*Mike Smith*writes in an email. The development includes a 575,000-square-foot residential tower that will front Six Forks Road and rise 32 stories, just shy of the tallest tower in downtown Raleigh — the 33-story*PNC*Plaza. The building will have 308 luxury apartments and 185 boutique hotel rooms.**Next door will be a 20-story Class A office building, totaling 650,000 square feet and sporting a conference center. Both are expected to open in mid-2020.""

Simply speculating but in trying to compare it to something height wise, the 20 floor office tower should be right around 300ft making it taller then One Progress Plaza downtown and the 32floor residential tower should be similiar to the Ascent in Charlotte. So probably around 425ft.

That's some nice height being added to North Hills. And they are pretty towers as well.

It looks like 2018 will be a busy year at North Hills. As well as the Midtown area in general. I'm not sure of the time table. But NC's first Wegmans has started construction also.

Back to North Hills a little more info on upcoming in 2018
