If everyone else pencil whipped it, UNC probably did too.

That is, after all, their primary defense: "b-b-b-b-but EVERYONE does it!"

Just goes to show how much of a joke the 'student-athlete' is. It goes all the way back to high school, athletes don't care and have no reason to care about academics. Everyone knows they skate along in joke courses with joke grades. Honestly I don't even see the reason for there being athletics related to the schools other than money. What's the point of forcing these kids to take classes if their primary purpose in life is to play sports?

NCAA and their academic policies are a joke.

Ok, I guess we'll just take your word on that. I guess UNC is just SO HONEST, only THEIR pencil-whipped self-audits turned up such abuse?

Lord knows the UNC-controlled BOG would just turn a blind eye if other abuses were suspected, after all... THEIR WORD ought to be worth more than mountains of evidence, right?

Again, if you really believe that I'd like to talk to you about a cheap bridge for sale. You can set up a toll. EVERYONE does it, you'll be RICH!!1!1

Lol, it doesn't matter, those who don't like UNC will never come to terms with any level of admission to guilt or levied penalty.
Here's what I'll say...

The majority of the "ABC" folks (read: NC State fans) who give off the "out for blood" vibe ..wait for it......actually want UNC to "get off scott free"

If UNC were to get a post season ban, have to vacate past wins, get the death penalty, or any combination of those in the next season.....in a few years; UNC would still have a far better athletic record than State....and their excuse of "b b b b b but...they cheated and get away with it!!!! That's the only reason they're better!" would be null.

That's pretty much their whole MO. What else would they have to cling to? Even after the harshest punishment possible....in the long run UNC's athletic record and overall academic prestige would still outshine theirs. Duke and UNC will still be THE rivalry in college sports and State still won't be invited to the party that they feel left out of now.

No....ABC fans discretely (and often not so discretely) really want UNC to "get away with it"....they want to have that line to pull for all eternity. They lose that; they lose all of their talking points and really their whole dialogue as a fanbase.

What I find most funny is that during the Final 4 in 2005, an article came out stating that UNC's basketball team all had the same major. The guy running the academic stuff basically said..."yeah, we support that, encourage it. They are getting a world class education."

And at the time, there was at least one starter taking 3 Indy classes (which is now known to not be attending any classes). UNC curriculum allows for no more than 2 Indy classes at a time. Dude later says he didn't go to class at all that whole semester....just practiced and played basketball and won the national championship.

Have never heard of anyone else doing that...maybe in a made up movie...but no one has ever been proven to have done that.

I don't think it's quite registered with you, most student athletes, no matter the school at big-time U aren't getting a world class education. Especially in the cash cow programs of CFB and CBB due to time constraints, travel, etc.

Do you know what independent studies mean? Let me help..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_study

Many times "student" athletes in their pre-determined final semester will only sign up for classes and not attend or barely attend a class. They are going pro and leaving after Freshman, Sophomore or Junior year (CBB). In CFB, you cannot leave until at least a Junior or 21 years old. It's not a movie but the way it is. As an advisor I would certainly steer the so-called student athlete to take easy courses or less than rigorous major. That's the way it works....what rock do you live under?

While this is my 6th post on this thread which is very informative regarding UNC's situation...just like to point out that Big Aristotle has posted 14 times so far...all in an effort to re-buff statements made by others regarding this situation.

Fourteen times. I know you hold your University sacred, but everyone knows what went wrong at UNC.

We get it...your a fan...a BIG fan. Here's the deal.

Secretary's giving out grades doesn't equal "easy courses".
Worst academic scandal in NCAA history doesn't equal "everyone else does this."

UNC is on academic probation from its accrediting agency. UNC has a Lack of Institutional Control charge by the NCAA that encompasses its entire academic support staff.

No other school has this. The answer as to why is because these weren't just easy courses and not everyone else does what UNC did. Its now time for UNC to make amends.

Back in the 80's, the ACC commish, a UNC alumni, pushed for Clemson to get an extra year of probation imposed by the ACC in addition to two years of probation given by the NCAA. Clemson got 3 years for a minor violation involving a booster giving two recruits some gifts.

But yet nothing has happened to UNC thus far, and I don't believe anything will.
