Mom : not taking crap off of anyone and her uncanny way of saying sawed off yes she was from London .
Dad : his love of animals and compassion for them and learning that we must protect them because they are Gods creatures .

Mom: hard work, focus on education, committment.

Oh god, I've spent much of my life doing the opposite of what my parents would have done. But they were good parents nonetheless, in a very weird way.

I've inherited my mother's sociability. I've inherited my father's stubbornness. Both have served me well. But many of my traits were developed by watching their conduct and thinking I didn't want to impact the world in the same way that they did or manage my relationships the same way.

Intelligence. My mom was genius. Me, too,as is oldest daughter.

Unfortunately high intelligence doesn't help terrible decision making, a trait we three share as well.

We also share the trait of frankly speaking. All in all a recipe for a very frustrating existence.

From my Dad I got mechanical ability and the ability to figure things out. He was very smart about solving problems.

From Mom, kindness. She loved animals and was just a very nice, kind person. I get more like her as I age.
