This morning on the news, I saw an interview with Mr. Paterson regarding the collapse of the crane in NYC.

It was very responsible for him to get there - That showed that he has concern for others.

But, I had the sound turned off, and the closed captioning on - And, what appeared on the screen was him saying something in the line of "...we have a lot of blood and gore here", and he went on with some encouraging words.

This just struck me as kind of an odd thing for anyone to say at the time - Even though it is true (apparently there would be blood and gore) - But, is that something a state leader should be saying at the moment?

Aside from that, there is an article today in the NY Times about Mr. Paterson's past political actions. And, reading it makes me wonder if he will be representing all NY'ers...

I tuned into WCBS 2 in NYC to find out what this guy is all about considering he was sworn in today you would figure they would report on his views. It seemed like 5 minutes of coverage but nothing about where he stands on issues. Poking around the internet could only find vague information.

What everyone is really concerned about with here is taxes which are already outrageous here in NY.

It is not unusual when an office holder "moves up" to take into consideration the wider range of opinions, perhaps, among her/his larger constituency.

It's still early, of course (Day One, to be precise ), but in all probability, Gov. Paterson will probably try to hold on for a second term. If so, he will have to push for policies that are acceptable to a majority of voters.

Interesting that he, as a legally blind person, should invoke so visual an image by referring to the accident scene as "blood and guts."

Just another "POLITICIAN".

He can't keep his promise to his own wife, what make anyone think he'll obey his Oath to NY? I can hear it now: "well, I thought my relationship with NY was going sour, so I decided to do what was in MY best interest, to hell with the rest of you..."
And dead-behind-the-eye NY'ers will be OK with that.

This morning the news on this guy is how he cheated on his spouse. Here we go again. Good luck NY, you all will need it. Hope this guy does not fly the plane into the ground, but maybe you can start looking at who is # 3 in succession. Looks like NYS will continue it's now 31 year annual tradition of being an outboud migration state.

His indiscretions by both he and his wife occured 10 years ago. Both have grown since then and moved forward. I find it a shame that they have to air their personal lives because the media will dig and dig till they find something.

Besides if personal indiscretions were a disqualifier for office their would be alot of vacancy's in public office as well as faith based organizations.

The voting public needs to know who they're voting for. The overwhelming majority vote for whomever the MSM tell them to vote for. That's why our government is corrupt and dysfunctional.
Politicians are like hogs feeding at the trough of the public treasury.

Migee- I had the same reaction to his comment. I thought it was weird in a way.
Despite Spitzer's "issues" he did want to change the way Albany's been run whereas I think the status quo will reign now.

How sad that most of the above posters have no intention of giving the new guy a chance. And Hinton Bound, here is one "dead behind the eyes" New Yorker who at least has the brains not to move to a coastal area. Hope you can swim.
