Hi everyone: My family is relocating from Connecticut to Orange County. My husband's job (which he already started and is living in temporary housing) is in Paramus, and after looking at a lot of houses, we narrowed our favorites down to a few in either Minisink or Monroe.

The main pros and cons as I see are are these:

Both have good schools (is Monroe better?), Monroe has super high taxes that may get higher soon, Minisink is less congested (a plus for us).

I've done some homework but I'd be grateful for any input, especially from parents with children in schools, and, please, not from real estate agents soliciting.

Many thanks!

Hi,
I live in the Washingtonville area and I am in the process of relocating to Minisink. Taxes where I live, Blooming Grove are a pretty high. I bought a house here 4 years ago and my taxes went thru the roof. I estimate my new taxes on a new home in Minisink will be about 3000.00 less a year than in Blooming Grove. However I may be putting that 3000 in my gas tank for commutting. Monroe is congested, overpriced and I would stay away. I just found out Minisink has a full day kindergarden program which the Washingtonville school district doesn't have. I am not sure if Monroe has all day kindergarden??
Best of luck
