Any thoughts on Monroe, NY? We're looking into it as a possible place to move. What is it like there? Pros and Cons for living there? Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Is this reguarding a town named Monroe, or the county of that name? If it is the county you can find everything from down on the farm living with only dialup internet, to the center of the city condo living.

What types of services are you looking for or looking to avoid?

I would suggest also reading other topics in this board as several of them refer to the Rochester Metro area any may give you further ideas for questions.

Good Luck.

Thumbs up I live in Monroe

Pro's: good schools, 3 volunteer fire companies, 2 major highways, close to NJ, shopping (Woodbury Commons), easy train and bus access for commuting to NYC, Harriman State Park, Sterling Forrest State Park, Mount Peter Ski Resort, Many Lakes, fishing, scenery, 3 grocery stores plus BJ's Wearhouse members club, Target, Walmart. Restraunts like Chilis, TGI Fridays, Applebees, Gasho of Japan. Many More.....
Con's: High Taxes, Kiryas Joel, No movie theatre (although supposed to build one for a few years.) High traffic in the summer.

Monroe is one of the nicer towns in the area. Great schools. Crazy taxes. Housing is a little on the high side but has come down a little.

Easy access to the city and to shopping.

Default Everything is relative

I have lived in NJ and MA and Georgia prior to moving to Orange County NY and traveled almost all 50 states. Orange County still rates up there for me. Where are you living now? Moderator cut: realtor soliciting
