Also, not sure how old you are, but the young crowd also frequents Lando's on Bridge St ("young" as in 21-25 ish). Lando's is more of a dance club. I'm not sure what nights are still the big ones at Lando's, as it's been a long time since I was 21 and single...
Lando's sounds like a good time. I'm in my mid 20s and kind of looking for trouble I'm so bored now. Kind of makes me wonder how Corning's prime was when the company was booming. I hear a lot of stories from the mid 90s when the stock was at around $100 a share. Seems like Lando's was all the rage then.
Yep, Lando's was just about the only place for that kind of scene in Corning since at least sometime in the 80s. Just remember, if you're from a big city, you may have to reset your expectations for what constitutes a dance club in this area, lol!
Montour Falls... basically halfway to Ithaca, especially once you discover a couple of county roads. Have trouble imagining a problem commute on NY 414 (at least, not until race season...) other than being a somewhat boring road with a mysteriously long speed zone through Beaver Dams.

I can't think of many clubs in Horseheads for a younger crowd. Hanover Square has some nice restaurants and a couple bars. As an aside, Simon's Japanese Steakhouse in Hanover Square is a great place to eat if the OP is looking for something a little nicer. But I can't think of anything in Horseheads along the lines of dancing, lots of young singles, etc. Elmira does have a couple of places, like the Sand Dollar, that do tend to attract singles that might work. Personally, if I were willing to travel to Elmira, I would rather drive the extra few minutes and go to Ithaca. But that may be just because I've spent altogether too much time in Elmira

Oh, I know. I was thinking that ki0eh was talking about places to live that would be a middle ground between Corning and Ithaca. I was thinking something along lines of the Horseheads North area: Horseheads North, New York - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lol, I guess I should have read back a little further!
The fellow said he wound up renting in Montour Falls and its proximity to Ithaca might not be obvious depending on what map you read. Unlike many places the name of that community is not false advertising, at least.
