I reaching out to anyone who can help me understand something. That something being I have a 22 year old sister who could not do anything more beneficial to her health in terms of diet and working out, etc. the twist is that she was diagnosed with stage 4 liver and colon cancer. The reason I'm writing on a cancer cluster forum is because within less than 500 ft of my street there was a 10 year old with lukemia, a 13 year old with lukemia, a 24 year old with thyroid cancer, and this is just people I know personally. I don't know the other 90% of my street making me think that there has to be something going on here. Our street is within very short walking distance of Rockland Pyschiatric Center which if a very very large hospital. We also live next to some very large resevoirs. These are all the conclusions that I could possibly come up with, and I was just wondering if there is anyone that can help me out into understanding this and should I be worried myself???
My God. I grew up within walking distance of that center too. My sister graduated TZHS in 91 and she was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer three years ago. My father lived there for 24 years and is dying of prostate cancer, for which there is NO family history. My sister and I know 3 young people from the same high school who died or were deathly ill from cancer. I believe there is a cancer cluster there but why?
