I'm going to be living in the city and commuting to Englewood Cliffs for work. My job is on Sylvan Ave in Englewood Cliffs. Does anyone know which bus to get on at port authority that will take me close to sylvan ave? any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I think that there's a specific bus that goes to Englewood Cliffs, but am not sure of the number. It would be a NJTransit bus, however, so their trip planner can give you accurate directions and an itinerary. Hope that helps.
ETA: I see that you got the bus number when I was searching my bookmarks for the NJTransit link. That link is helpful for anywhere that you need to go that's served by NJTransit.

Thanks everyone! now i have a really stupid question - what level in port authority do i catch these commuter buses? i'm afraid i'll get lost in the station and not be able to find my bus.
Your route is located on the 2nd floor of the terminal. The first link I provided tells you the Gate Number that your bus will leave depending on the time of day. Just following the number and you'll reach your bus.
Hopefully this helps as well: Map of the Port Authority Bus Terminal (http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/bus/pdfs/PABT_FLOOR_MAP.pdf - broken link)
I'm in the same situation. I live in the city and commute to Englewood Cliffs for work. My job is on Sylvan Ave in Englewood Cliffs and I get off at the Stop At Charlotte Place. I take the 156 bus which leaves from Port Authority. I want to get a 10 trip pass for the 156 bus, but it keeps saying I need to insert routing numbers and stuff. I know I'm in zone 3, but does anyone know what numbers I need to insert on the ticket machine?
Btw, if you are statring a new job with an unfamiliar commute, here's a hint: 'dry run'!
Don't wait until the first moring of work to be your first attempt at communtting!
