Well NJ does fix big highways like NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway faster than NYC does. The difference is that NJ tolls all of those roads so it's important for them to keep those roads fixed quickly to allow cars to flow faster and get tolled. NYC, because majority of those roads aren't tolled it is fixed the slowest. I have never seen a really quick road repavement job in NYC in my lifetime here. It's always been patchwork and forever endless construction.
Fixing a highway is easy when that’s pretty much your main obligation as a state.
This is nonsense. I have family all over west palm beach and the only reason why their roads are always in nice condition is because roads are pretty much the only things they have to fix and just like many parts of NJ it’s suburban which means less people and other agencies in the way when fixing things
Comparing roads being paved in a suburb to a city street. Amazing.
I bet those Jersey roads have the same amount of buses, trucks, car running through them. I’m also betting those suburban Jersey roads are also major through way streets.
Nothing more beautiful than the paved roads in Jersey City and Newark lmao.!
Being ok with NYC's glaring deficiencies, while paying for it. Amazing.
I am pretty sure that most of the middle class doesnt want to support welfare class. Why do these elected officials support that class that doesn't contribute **** to NYC?
Government is not in business of supporting the working class.
The cost of everything in New York is so much more than in other parts of the country.
The state remains to be poorly managed, and voters are not willing to get rid of very, very poor U.S. legislative politicians.
The place is doomed.
Upstate is fairly well balanced politically. My county executive bounces between parties and is medium to fairly lax on issuing gun permits, for example. It’s that mega city in the corner which elects us blue. NYS is hardly the only state where this happens (CA and IL come to mind).

In this case, the scale of the problem is irrelevant because NYC has the resources to work on it. The budget is over $100billion and there are plenty of city workers and equipment. The problem is that the administration of this city has turned into maintaining the welfare class instead of constantly working on improving the QOL for taxpayers.
Most of NYC isn’t all that much more dense than suburb towns in NJ. Especially considering my example was a road in Staten Island. NYC cheerleaders will always make excuses for that failed city. It’s why it is the way it is. Too many voters don’t care about what really matters. As long as politicians parrot leftist catch phrases, they don’t ever have to deliver on QOL issues.
I'm not sure if this is true because I've literally only transited through SI but from what I've heard, SI has become a lot more dense over the past 20 years. Density brings it's own issues and I can understand why, for many, that may have "ruined" SI.
I grew up in a very low density neighborhood in BK. While it technically hasn't become a lot more dense over the past 20 years, the surrounding neighborhoods have and even that has contributed to a lower QOL. The issues are "small" things but unless you live in the neighborhood you'd never notice it.
Sh*t like this never happened back in day on the Island, well not on South Shore anyway.
