The Chinese may have been the ones to bring it here but once it starts spreading (maybe it already has), avoiding one train line will do you absolutely no good if you're trying to avoid germs.
That said, I do ride the 7 train and bought myself a nice (actually really cheap) pair of sports gloves that let me grip the pole easily. Leather gloves would work too. It's something, not nothing, but maybe barely more than nothing.
There is a Vaccine for this already being fast tracked tested. But the news doesn't really publicize it since fear and anxiety about this thing get more clicks and views
I get that we have to be prepared, hell we should always be prepared for anything as well as always practice proper hygiene and other health/safety practices. It shouldn't only be when there are outbreaks of something.
Anyway hopefully we should have a fully functioning vaccine within this year hopefully.
I can't rate Henna's post, need to spread it around, but I too agree on the gloves. It's already nasty on the subway, so every bit helps. Bad time to get holes in my gloves, but I'm 100% buying new ones as soon as I can.

It has been publicized and I read about it previously. The problem is , it’s in development and fast tracking only goes so far. First they need to come up with something that works and then they need to jump through all sorts of hoops to make sure it’s safe. As the article says, it will be a year before it’s accomplished, if it can be accomplished.
Perhaps that’s why no one is jumping up and down about a vaccine since it’s one plus years out.

I found sports gloves with those little rubber or silicone nodules on the palms $1.49 at 99 cent store. I bought a couple since I’m sure I will lose some, and at that price I can afford to lose them. Buy now before weather gets warm and they stop carrying them.
That is a good point. IF NYC/US could stay safe for another month, the risk will be much lower going forward when the weather warms up, which buys time for vaccine testing and manufacturing. This bug is more contagious and life-threatening that flu, but one thing is clear is that it is seasonal. Time is a better cure.
