China was trying to spread disinformation that it did not originate there and even suggested that it was the U.S. that planted it there. Trump is countering that by calling it the China virus.
Yep. And before China started doing this, Trump had explicitly made it a point for a minute to not even mention China by name when discussing his travel ban, the origin of the virus, etc.
His calling it the "Chinese virus" was in direct response to the misinformation from China.
As for people somehow being motivated by President Trump calling the coronavirus the "Chinese virus" to attack Asians and Asian Americans, give me a break. Unless you can prove to me what these people's motivations are and political leanings are, that's just noise.

The issue is this. The race, sex, gender and sexual orientation battle is over. It is dead thanks to the Coronavirus. Those who exist in academia and the media are trying to keep alive the identity politic war by accusing Trump of racsim, but it is not working. Most people do not care aobut what Trump says coins the word Coronavirus, but are trying to get by. In place of identity such as black, LGBT, and women, the class struggle has returned and showed its ugly head.
Do you have a source for your knowledge of how Asian families live?
Although we have a couple of trolls here it is unfortunately undeniable that predominantly Asian areas like Flushing have severe occupancy violations (by fire code standards). I was born and raised in many parts of the neighborhood and personally witness 3-4 families exiting 2 family homes on the regular basis for work/school etc.
One simply needs to do the math (2020 census will help with that, somewhat)
Same for Central Americans in Jackson Heights. Or any other immigrant group.
NYC has a high concentration of recent arrivals of all nationalities combined with high rents which equals the 20 living to a 3 bedroom scenario.
Now no matter how meticulously clean it is kept, that kind of density results in any sort of contagion moving at lightning speed. Which is why I believe that the true Coronavirus number is closer to 1 Million already if not more, but the lack of data doesn't allow us to strategize and size risk appropriately. So all we have is economic turmoil based on reaction to a scenario where the fatality rate is skewed because true infection rates remain unknown.
- 3,101 new cases in last 24 hours
- 23,112 cases in total
- 46% under age 45
- 20% hospitalized
- 365 deaths
- 51,031 tests performed
New York State has total of 39,100 the next update this noon
Figures are right. About 20% hospitalized. NYS will pass 40k infected in the next few hours as results come in from early testing a couple of days ago.
I don't know where this idea that young people were not going to be infected came from. They were never presumed to have any type of immunity. They were presumed to have a much lower mortality rate than people over 60. They're in a better position to fight it off if they get it. That does seem to be the case.
46% of new infections in NYC were in people, under 45.

Another flaw is the PCR test to my knowledge in use does not account for already infected but "recovered" and no longer infectious. It also may not be accurate at detecting early stage infections.
The (likely) more expensive and time consuming blood antigen test needs to be implemented to get the full early picture of how many have truly already been infected and completely self resolved with no symptoms or medical intervention. But we're likely already past that point. The grim reality we are in right now is that all we can do is wait for the bodies to stop dropping (as quickly) to determine if we've arrived at herd immunity or not.

NY Gov Cuomo had a chance to buy ventilator machines in 2015 but “turned it down.”
It's funny how he forgets to mention this fact in his crybaby sessions.
He says NY strength is it's closeness but we know this isn't true also.
NYC residents existence depends on social distance.

Exactly right, thousands of illegals are also living in overcrowded buildings contributing
to the NYC Caronavirus problem, spreading it to legal residents.
