Most would say Jackson Diner.
I also like Indian Taj.

But I am rating both for their buffet, probably takeout is similar.

Thanks. Ended up going to Delhi Heights. Will try those places out next time.

Is there any good Indian food in Manhattan? I have tried at least a dozen places and they were all pretty bland.

I went to this place once in the East Village

Brick Lane Curry House

that is reputed to hae the spiciest, hottest curry around. It was so fiery I couldn't finish. I couldn't taste any food, just heat. You may call it many things, but 'bland' will never be one of them.

I like Andaz in the UES. It's on 1st Ave between 73rd and 74th St. There's also a place in the 20s or 30s or so on Lexington Ave, I think. It's was a kosher Indian restaurant and it was pretty good. Don't remember the name.

There must be 700 Indian restaurants in Manhattan. I'm sure some are "good". Try Dhaba in Curry Hill

I think there is a fancy one somewhere in Tribeca.

Yes, Tamarind. It's very good but pricey as you can probably imagine.

Jackson heights is THE place to go, for cheaper and tasty Indian food.

On my neck of the woods, I recommend Saffron (45 st & Broadway), Seva ( 34st & 30th Ave) and Namaste on 31st & 30th ave... The last one has an open buffet on Saturdays during Brunch time for 10 bucks.

I understand Jackson Heights (and Jersey City) are the best places to go for Indian food. I was just asking because I live in Manhattan and would like to be able to go somewhere that's both good and relatively convenient.
