Most college students either live in the dorms or at home with their parents. Schools range from Ivy League such as Columbia to third tier bottom of the barrel schools. There is no such place a "cheap" place to live anywhere in Manhattan. The best job that a college student could get would be to get a federal work study job on campus. You could not support yourself with a work study job or any type of minium wage job off of campus. If you are an exceptional student, get a full scholarship. Otherwise go into debt with student loans and get your parents to support you like everyone else.

Are you kidding? Surely you know that this is the worst economy since the Great Depression.

Excuse me, but if you haven't even bothered to research schools, you're not ready to move here. Stay put and save up some money.
