Staying in the neighborhood and not leaving it for your needs does not mean the same thing as never having left the neighborhood at any point, and the latter is what the OP was explicitly asking. It seems like you're confusing the two things.
I'm telling you these people I know have NEVER been to Manhattan. Why do you have such a hard time believing this. Open your eyes.
I go to all boro's. But I don't look down or judge people that don't.

Not even for a school trip? Every Native New Yorker has to have had at least visited Manhattan for a school trip.

I missed the one to the Statue of Liberty because I had chicken pox. Still never been.

I'm not denying you said that or that there exists adult residents of NYC that have never been to Manhattan. The problem is you saying this is common in certain neighborhoods. It doesn't follow that the people you yourself have talked to are representative of a neighborhood as a whole or that is it common. I also didn't say I look down on people who don't got to all boroughs. I'm talking about likelihood and percentages, not a judgment of whether that's right or wrong.

I'm curious about this--is it actually an established part of NYC public school curriculum to offer school trips to things like the Met or the Natural History Museum or is it pretty random?

Did you ever think I'm active in my community and know things that perhaps you don't know. Do you attend the community board meetings, are you a member of certain organizations, do you volunteer in your community, do you help people out in your building....Perhaps I know and come in contact with quite a bit of people in the community I live.

Oh, I believe it, but I also don't think from that it's likely for you to get a clear picture that it's common that adult residents have actually never been to Manhattan.

And yea, I do volunteer in my community and my building. Good on you for doing so, too!

OMG, I was sick for our trip to the Statue of Liberty too! So I've only seen it from the Staten Island ferry, a boat ride around Manhattan and an event at Chelsea Piers.

You make me laugh. I'm literally LOL at you. Tell you what, Why don't you come join me and some people and they can tell you their stories in person since you obviously have trust issues believing someone for their word.

Okay, maybe I'll take you up on that at some point. I'm not trying to ride or ridicule you.
