Damn...thanks for your input. I wanted to get out of Philly...but I certainly don't want to go from bad to worse...or really bad to really bad! Philly was tough but I knew where NOT to go. Was going to check out SeaGate this week. I have been looking for a roommate and she made it sound like safe neighborhood. Since I just graduated, funds limited but damn...I don't have a car and she said train close and I have to move out of my Philly apt. this Friday. Just wanted safe (or as safe as it can be) living area and a quick commute into the city on a budget and time is running out. Thanks again.
OP needs to give what they can afford per month in rent.
I'd recommend Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Carrol Gardens, Brooklyn Heights,
Williamsburg if you can afford them, if not, their outliers like Greenpoint, Fort Greene, Kensington, Prospect Heights, etc. Bay Ridge and all that jazz is a long commute.
I am moving to NYC, and I am looking for the best areas and safest places to live as well. I am wheelchair bound, and I have teen, So i rather be living in the best neighborhood, town, areas. Please give me the best feed back possible, thank you. rent isnt a problem just want the best, and near trnsportation.

You say rent isn't a problem so does that mean you can afford $15k a month? Because there are places that rent for that much around here. People on the board are going to need some more specifics to direct you on neighborhoods. Also, as for being wheelchair bound, you'll have no problems getting around NYC with the bus system but stay away from the subways.

For "the best", then this is for you. Most are coops or condos, but I'm sure some arrangement can be made:
This one is $25,000 a month. http://www.corcoran.com/property/lis...tingID=2480345 I've actually been in an apartment in the building, though can't exactly afford living there. It's quite nice. If rent were "no problem" and I "just wanted the best" I might live there for the views and the space, although it is not the most exciting part of town.
edit: the link doesn't seem to be loading. The address is 1 River Terrace.
