Hey everyone I am a 23 year old recent college grad who is looking to move to NYC due to career opportunities. I have an interview there next week and will be looking for properties while I am there.

But I have no idea where to look!

I need to live in an area where it is easy commute into Manhattan. I have a car as well thinking of not bringing it along with me. I have been looking for cheap apartments all over the city and have found a few in northern/upper manhattan and in the bordering bronx areas. I have looked in Astoryia Queens(expensive) and several other places in Brooklyn and Staten Island. I would prefer to live in Manhattan but will live in another part if it turns out to be more expensive then I thought. My budget is $1200 a month and I want at least one bedroom. My budget will increase after I get hired as I will be able to afford more.

I would like to live in an area where there are other young professionals and plenty of clubs to go to. I have read that NY is overall safe, but I have never visited it before and coming from a small town in the south this is a big deal for me. Another question, why is it that most apartments in NYC do not allow pets? I have 3 pets(2 dogs 1 cat) that I am bringing with me and just wanted to know why the city is so pet unfriendly?

Thanks all advice is appreciated.
