Hi, I am trying to figure out how to get my daughter in Brooklyn to the train station in Newark. She has only been there for a few weeks and is still learning her way around. Her Great Grandmother is turning 90 years old in a few weeks and she needs to get to Chambersburg, PA for the party. I've got an uncle who says he can pick her up from the train station in Newark on his way to PA. So my question is this, how would she get to Newark from Brooklyn? Her internship provides her with a metro pass so I'm guessing she needs to get to Grand Central Station to then catch a train to Newark?
We come from an area with virtually no public transportation so this is all new to us. Thanks for your help.
What part of Brooklyn are they coming from? They can take the B,D or F train to 23rd or 34th street to the Path train which will get them to Journal square, where they would transfer to the redline which ends in Newark. Or they can take the A or C train to Chambers and catch the Path train red line and go straight to Newark.
Take the R to Courtland street then take the WTC PATH to Newark. The WTC PATH is the shortest train. I frequently take this route the reverse way from JC to BK.
Edit: You can also sub the R for the 2 or 3 to Chambers. The point is to try and get to WTC for the shortest train.
When I'm going to back Newark from BK I take the 2 train to the WTC stop at Park Place and take the Path Train to Newark. You should have very little problems getting to Newark.
If you live along the A or C lines you can take either train to Chambers Street, where you can transfer to the PATH train to Newark (marked NWK)
If you live along the 2 or 3 lines, you can take either train to Park Place for the PATH train to Newark.
If you live along the R line, you can take it to Cortlandt Street for the PATH train to Newark (NOTE: Cortlandt Street is only open northbound. Coming back to Brooklyn, you'll have to walk to Rector Street to take the R)
If you live along the B or Q line, you can take either train to DeKalb Avenue for the R to Cortlandt Street.
If you live along the D or N lines, you can take the train to Pacific Street for the R train to Cortlandt Street.
If you live along the F line, you can take the F to Jay Street/MetroTech for the A or C to Chambers Street.
If you live along the G line, you can take the G to Hoyt-Schermerhorn Street for the A or C to Chambers Street.
If you live along the J/Z line, you can take the train to Fulton Street and then walk over to the PATH station at the World Trade Center.
If you live along the L or M lines, you can take the L to 6th Avenue, and then take the PATH to Grove Street. From there, you can take another PATH train to Newark.
Take the #2 train to Park Place then go upstairs and walk down the corridor to the PATH terminal from there take the PATH train headed to Newark Penn Station.
Take the A train to to Chambers, follow the corridor to the PATH terminal and take the train that says NWK which takes you straight to Newark Penn St.
What would the best place be to stay at to be close to Newark, Edison and Brooklyn via public transport?
