Hello!

I'm seeking advice on recommendations for highly-rated hotels/boutique hotels (without loud crowds, but modern and a sense of style) as a springboard near the following museums:

Whitney
Guggenheim
MoMA

300+/night doesn't scare me at all. Thanks for all suggestions!

Most of the more modern (vibe, architecture) hotels are downtown, but you may want to check out the Hudson Hotel or Mandarin Oriental/Columbus Circle, both near Central Park & museums. Other nearby hotels I would recommend are the Essex House, the Carlyle, or the Hotel Wales.

The ultra-modern hotels are pretty far downtown, but some big ones are the Gansevoort, the Standard, the Maritime, the Mercer, the Hotel on Rivington, the Royalton (midtown) and the W @ Union Square.

Mandarin Oriental is the best hotel in NYC, in my opinion.

The Peninsula is another great hotel, but it's not modern. The Plaza is nice, and you could use their complimentary Rolls-Royce to drop you off at the Guggenheim, Moma, but again..the decor isn't as modern as the MO.

Mandarin Oriental is your best bet. It's modern and very luxurious. The lounge and the views are amazing. Expect to pay $500 minimum for a starter room.

I love the Washington Hotel.. has a great old feel to it while still feeling modern. Great way to experience the city!

Thanks for the recommendations - some of which I've contemplated already, and some I haven't. Thanks, everyone.
