Not really, no. There is nowhere in NYC with a particular concentration of Japanese residents. Fort Lee, NJ, just across the George Washington Bridge, used to have a high Japanese population, but a lot of them were businessmen who moved back to Japan after the Japanese economy collapsed in the 90s.
I can't speak on Astoria, but the Japanese in the 5 boroughs like the areas around Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle and south of Columbus Circle, Manhattan. The ones with some money like tall buildings with doormen ... Trust, I know from first-hand experience.

I'd say the largest concentration of Japanese are in Westchester. Mainly Scarsdale.
Actually, you probably don't live in Astoria. There IS a sizable Japanese population in Astoria, especially around the Broadway train station, 30th avenue and Astoria Blvd. I know because I have a live-in Japanese girlfriend, I live in Astoria and I see the Japanese crowds. Broadway especially has the largest concentration of Japanese living in Queens.
There seems to be a nice concentration of Japanese in Astoria around the 36th ave N/Q train stop and around the intersection of Broadway and 21st street.
I live in Astoria, and I have honestly never met a Japanese person. There are lots of Chinese though.
