How is this area, I am getting 1 bedroom apartment for $1300 a month. How is crime in this area? Is the rent good? Is it White, African-American, Asian or Hispanic area?
Is it easy to commute from here to 42nd st and 7th ave in NYC?
You are already renting an apartment there and you still don't know the demographics of that area? That is weird. Anyway it is mostly hispanic. There are housing projects close by where the demographic tend to be mostly blacks and hispanics too. There are a few whites and asians too in the area. But they are not the majority. The area still sketchy and crime still happens way more compare to a few blocks down on the Upper East Side. Although overall crime in the area has come down compare to five yeas ago for example. But I would still be aware of my surroundings. Especially very late at night.
Not a great neighborhood.
Definitely not a neighborhood to rent an apartment in site unseen.
What's with all these people who seem to rent apartments in iffy neighborhoods without ever spending any time there......or apparently without even looking at the apartment ?
Hang on a second----
When was the last time either of you two responders went to that area?
I have family that lives not too far from there and I can tell you that area isn't 'bad'.
Not by a long shot.
No, it's not good like the UES.
But it's nowhere NEAR being a totally undesireable.
I looked at an apartment there. Everything seemed fine until I walked around the neighborhood. Other then being surrounded by project buildings, there are not many places to shop for food.
