One tenant this and one tenant THAT. What a terrible way to view the way Mitchell Lama works.
Eligibility rules apply to new Mitchell Lama renters and cooperators. There are no standards to "kick somebody out" or to impose retroactive ineligibility. The only legal penalty is a 50% maintenance or rent charge for somebody making over a set amount...in the $100,000+ range.
Somebody who drives a Prius is not mandated to trade up to a Bentley just because his income has soared.
Hey Guys, I've checked housing connect for York Hill and got Log#3XX. Care to share your log #s
Congrats! Barring any eligibility issues it looks like you are on the list at least (well once you pay the deposit). Wish I could have applied for that one, but I didn't meet the minimum household size.
NYCTURKS: let us know when you get the application in the mail. It's a shame if you got selected and use the online portal they don't let you print an app through there.
I know a few people in the building and found out that word on the street is there are, and are going to be, a lot of vacant apartments. tons of old people who do not have any successors. So as far as I know it's not a ploy from the management company just to stash some application money. However if you notice the lottery was for "1540 york avenue", that is only one half of the building... there is also a "1550 york avenue" half. So that might cut down on the number of units available if is only for the 1540 side. Also another tricky thing is the management company for the building has changed a number of times the last 10 years. I'm not sure how these waiting lists carry over when the management changes.
The last time the 2 bedroom list was open, the person I spoke with waited almost 18 years for their apartment.
Good luck everyone who got selected! probably one of the best buildings if not the best, in the entire program. its kinda far from the train but a majority of the people in there are either old and don't leave, or drive, from what ive gathered. I'm hoping with the online portal some more buildings start posting openings. There are a ton of places who haven't opened their waiting lists in forever
The site isn't working for me either, unfortunately.
