I remember Texas Reds in Red River was pretty good. I think their original building burned to the ground though. They're in a new, less cool, building.

For this Dona Ana Cty steakhound, the best steakhouse in New Mexico, by far, is in Texas. Few places I've ever been can touch it Cattleman's Steakhouse - Map and directions
I"ll look forward to trying some of the other suggestions I haven't visited, though. Nuthin' wrong with research!

That was just featured last night on a Travel Channel program called "Great

In Santa Fe, I love the Steaksmith. Not a chain, it's been around for like 30 years. About half of what Rio Chama costs, but just as good. Try the fried avocado appetizer!

Okay, now I am dying to go there.

I need to start hinting to my husband. I'm going to tell him someone on the forum loves the place, and then get him intrigued over the fried avocado appetizer.

Actually it has been there ever since I began coming to Santa Fe and that was 38 years.

I love a good ripe avocado, but the thought of a fried avocado is pretty disgusting. Am I missing something?

This isn't affiliated with the Cattleman's on Rt 70, approaching Main St, is it?
