I would suggest that if you aren't sure where to go, pick something safe like Albuquerque or Las Cruces or Alamogordo first. You can find a job and it won't be too strange or different and then later on if you really find you prefer some smaller or remote place you can go then.

Yeah, I'm thinking Las Cruces is the best bet for me. Not as big as Albuquerque, but still good sized so my odds of employment are better. Alamogordo still is a possibility, but I need to do more research first.

I wouldn't even consider it, if I were you. I've lived in the area all of my life and would never choose to live there. Everything Alamogordo might have to offer by way of after-work interests are only an hour's drive from Las Cruces.
