One doesn't have to use drugs to look like a "weirdo" [sic], nor to get lost. I recall getting lost in Santa Fe one day; I thought I'd never figure it out. And I wasn't DUI!

We
re always lost in Santa Fe...once we get to our hotel, we walk until we leave to go to Chama. Find a hotel near the governers palace and stay in one spot is our thing.

my mom taught HS english in española in the 60s. she was once given a questionaire to fill out, one of the questions being what was the biggest discipline problem she had to deal with.

she put down 'students eating piñons in class and making a mess with the shells.'

my how things have changed

Witches use guns? I thought they had more interesting ways to dispose of enemies...

Seems like all my favorite towns are rife with witchcraft. Such a shame.

We've been in the area for 30+ years & yes, Espanola has its problems BUT it has some great new mexican cuisine! Yum! We've never had a bad meal in any of the new mexican cuisine restaurants & cheaper than Santa Fe or Taos. The old feed store where we used to get feed for our horses is now renovated into Los Arcos Restaurant. Give it a try as you drive by!

Never heard about any witchcraft tho. Are you saying witches-on-crack-with-guns?

I know Espanola's drug problem has been reported nationally and internationally. I still don't wonder if Bob Trapp and the Sun overplay it to hawk newspapers. And, while I'm sure there are "attitudes," including among staffers in various local governments over things like open records requests, I wonder whether part of that isn't a "backlash."

That said, I grew up in Gallup, and wouldn't move back there, nor would I move to Espanola.
