This was a young one. When I released him he hung around the area for a few minutes. Pretty sure someone had been feeding them in the area he was caught.

That'll do it....used to humans.
The one that we trapped (late 1950s) on our river lease in TX was huge....sharp little teeth bared, hissing/growling. My mom got movie footage of its release from the roof of the car, LOL!!
He would have bitten a plug out of her if he could have reached her.

Nice photo and the chop on the water is indicative of how dangerous this lake can be during windy weather. Many boats capsized and people drowned when caught in sudden storms over the years the lake has existed. I recall one incident when several businessmen from El Paso went missing on a fishing trip and it was years later when the boat was eventually found with the bodies still trapped beneath it on the lake bottom.
