Yup -- and in his starts on three days' rest, AJ is 4-0 (four starts for Toronto in 2008). It will be interesting to see if Joe starts Molina or Posada behind the plate.

Go Yankees....
The umpiring has been dreadful this postseason. But then, the quality has been declining over a number of years.

I heard on the radio last night that they needed to add extra security in the outfield sections because fans were throwing coins at the Yankees outfielders. Typical obnoxious Philadelphia sports fans.

I heard the same thing this morning. Philly fans (of any sport) are among the most obnoxious fans going -- they even booed Santa Claus.

But increased security isn't the answer -- threaten the team with a forfeited game if that behavior continues, and throw the bozos in jail.

Looks like the Yankees are going to take it this year. Then again, considering the gazillions of dollars they spent, they should win it. Phillies should win tonight with Lee going and then from there we'll see what happens.

It's not money that wins championships -- it's heart. The Yankees have spent a lot of money in previous seasons, but this season, the mix is better.

Exactly. There is very little correlation between success and payroll. Just look at the Marlins a few years ago they won the World Series with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball. Last year the Rays made it to the World Series with one of the lowest payrolls. The Yankees have had the highest payroll for many years yet they haven't won a WS since 2000, and didn't even make the playoffs last year. So people need to stop using the high payroll excuse for the Yankees success.

Which they then made even lower by selling off most of the team -- which they did both times they won the Series in '97 and '03 (and again in 2006, when Girardi managed the team).

Last year the Rays made it to the World Series with one of the lowest payrolls. The Yankees have had the highest payroll for many years yet they haven't won a WS since 2000, and didn't even make the playoffs last year.

That was due to multiple injuries to the team -- not due to any lack of heart.

So people need to stop using the high payroll excuse for the Yankees success.
And they didn't have the highest payroll when they were winning in the late 90s, either.
