I currently live in the Paulus Hook section of Jersey City and my girlfriend and I looking to move to either Bayonne, WNY, North Bergan, Lyndhurst, North Arlington, East Rutherford, etc...basically a close commute to NYC, "safe" (she had an incident a few years back in new brunswick were she was home alone during a home invasion)...and cheap (under 1100). We are not familiar with any of those towns so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd go with either Rutherford or Lyndhurst over E. Rutherford or North Arlington.

rutherford is a nice little town, good main drag with bars/restaurants/stores. its close enough to NYC. it seems pretty safe, but i dont live there. ive spent alot of time there. 1100 might only get you a 1br apt though.
