u gotta be kidding me do a search on 1mil + homes in friggin moorestown and see how many come up..now do the same for alpine. just because one ceo had one big home in moorestown does not even make it close to alpine. Was moorestown in the top 3 in the us...didn't think so. i been to moorestown and even towns like cresskill and closter crush moorestown. In bergen county terms moorestown is like paramus.

One of the homes down the street from me is owned whose primary residence is a 6000 s/f home in Moorestown. He paid $1.1M for the place here. He doesn't take care of the house here, he didn't have anyone looking in on it and ended up with a leak that caused mold through the entire house and they had to throw away all the furniture. (It took two huge dumpsters to get the furniture and drywall out of the house.) They never did put curtains up, they still have paper blinds on the windows--they bought the house five years ago.

Several of us in the neighborhood offered to keep a key and check it every week or two when they moved in and they turned us all down. Their loss. Every other p/t owner in this neighborhood has left a key with someone who lives here. We look out for each other. Had they had someone looking in on it, the problem would have been found within a week or two of it starting instead of six months later.

Anyhow, they don't keep this house up. It desperately needs a paint job, at one point the grass was almost a foot high and the shrubs hadn't been pruned in over six months. At one point they were several months behind on their HOA fees.

Also I know another family who lives in a 5000+ s/f house in Princeton--they can't afford furniture. They have a thrift store kitchen set, the furniture in the kids rooms came from Ikea, and the parents sleep on a mattress on the floor.

Just because someone lives in a big house doesn't mean they've got a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of.

It is no longer the wealthiest town in the USA, not even in the top 10. There is no mail delivery in Alpine, which means you have to stop at the post office everyday to get your mail. Lots of foreigners and people that the only reason they live there, is because somehow they made it. Greenwich is old money, people with families that became super wealthy back in the days, Belle Haven is a gorgeous area in Greenwich. SO, I dont really care for Alpine, there are a lot nicer towns in NJ, such as Bernardsville, Far Hills, Princeton, Rumson, Englewood Cliffs. Another thing, Alpine has absolutely no views ( except for the ugly tower ) no ocean front, no NYC views, nada.
you are correct. If you want to see real filthy huge homes Greenwich CT is it.
