Hi, fellows.

We're considering moving to Fort Lee; I should commute by public transportation to Columbia University (main campus, not the medical center).

Realistic estimation, how long it should take?

Thanks!

Depends on where in Fort Lee you are and what time you go. From the bridge over 95 (Lemoine Ave), figure you have a 5 minute wait for a bus, 15 minute ride across the river, 5 minute walk to the subway, 15 minute subway ride, 5 minute walk. Door to door, you're looking at 45 minutes maybe?

Maybe shave 10 minutes if its not during rush hour. Subways won't be as frequent though, so that wait could increase a bit.

Is that true? Only 15 minutes to cross the bridge by bus in rush hour?

We're thinking of living around 16th street, how bad is bridge-arrival from there?

Thanks!

Well, my assumption was that you'd be close to the overpass on Lemoine. Getting picked up there would skip you past a good portion of the inbound delays. The bridge would be slow, but I still think only 15. That said, from 16th street purely via mass transit, you'll get into it a bit more. I'd add 15 minutes and call it a clean hour during rush hour.

Do you have access to a gym facility with a bathhouse at Columbia? You could literrally ride a bicycle across the GWB, and then down the Hudson River park to Columbia, then take a quick shower. It should take you maybe 30min I think.
