Realtor refuses to give the name of the builder. Says the builder wishes to remain Anonymous

Saying the builder wants to rename anonymous makes it sound like he/she is not willing to stand behind his/her work and would make me pretty hesitant to invest in such a home.

Or it could be a realtor not willing to do the work or doesn't want to give you any information that could screw up the deal.

Push to get the builder's information. Confirm it's the correct builder's information. You cannot trust EITHER realtor because they don't want to mess up the deal.

If there's any issues, walk, but I'd walk right now given what the seller's agent said. I'd also drop a note to the seller that their agent is representing them like this.

Assuming this is a new house, not a resale.

The realltor is afraid you will contact the builder direct and cut him out of his commission.

Easy way to find out builder, take address to local building dept and ask who asked for the permits.

I was in a similar situation - and I must say that if you have even a hint of doubt - please do yourself a favour and walk away. There is probably something to hide, which is why it is being hidden. I understand this wasn't your agent - but if they aren't helpful..then I would also tell the agent that you don't appreciate their attitude and are going to NOT do business with them.

It was the seller's agents helper who was standing in for her I found out. The seller gave the name.
