I"m looking to relocate here in NJ, but some of the real estate sites don't say how much the property taxes are on the homes. Is there a website where I can see the average property taxes for each town. I can't find anything online.

You can search the property tax info on specific properties here:

NJ Assessment Records Search

For general property tax data for each town, you can check NJ.com's "New Jersey By The Numbers" database here: New Jersey by the Numbers - NJ.com

(Just click on the links I circled in red below.)

For average property taxes per town, nj.com has a site that lists all NJ towns for 2010 here:
New Jersey by the Numbers - NJ.com

If you know the county, city, and street you are interested in, you can get the current property tax info for the individual homes. Here is the site:

NJ Assessment Records Search

Hope this information helps.

Edit: oops, lol, looks like seque5tra typed in the same info as me.

Dear Raven: I agree that the property taxes are high, but, for the most part, the education that a child gets in New Jersey is second to none. In the long run, that's what a majority of our taxes go for, edcuation. And unless you are in a really crappy town, most of the schools are terrific.
