I just don't get why when someone writes and says they are already planning to move here and just want guidance for which town, that people feel the need to basically say "don't come here!"
Looking back in the thread, I saw someone mentioned healthcare. Just a warning, the hospitals in the Atlantic City area are pretty fricking awful. So if you're in poor health and place a high premium on staying alive in the case of a medical emergency, that could potentially be a deal-breaker.
I don't see any problem in giving information regarding cost of living, since the OP may not be all that familiar with NJ. As someone said, we really could use more information.
But saying things like NJ sucks really isn't helpful, is it? Many people who live here love it so that is just going to spark a rediculously useless flame war. Saying Hospitals are awful is really just as general and uninformative, though. What is awful about them? Do you have any statistics or is this just your personal experience?
Having said that, the OP hasn't posted since the original post in October so this is all really kind of pointless, isn't it?

The hospitals in the Atlantic City area ARE awful. Atlantic City Medical Center is passable if you're in a pinch, but I know quite a few good people who have been botched (and a couple even killed) at Shore Memorial. There's a very good reason that those who have the time/money to do so will make the hour+ drive to Cherry Hill/Philadelphia for medical treatment. In addition to these anecdotes, multiple medical professionals who are familiar with Atlantic County hospitals have told me to stay far away unless absolutely necessary. My friend's Dad likes to joke, "If you get a shark bite, you can go to Shore Memorial. Or alternatively, if you want to live, you'll get in your car and make the drive to Penn."
