I was speaking with a fellow Dem and his reason for supporting the bill was to reduce the number of paupers with incurable injuries being treated in state operated hospitals. I countered that although his objection was good economics it was not enough for me to support this legislation. Personal safety is not a place where the state needs to intervene.

This bill is most likely dead. The can vote on it again, but it's unlikely. Just one more year of this nonsense I hope.

we can only hope - but every election brings a slew of new representatives that jump on the bandwagon

if seatbelts were so important, then maybe they should consider making it mandatory to have them on SCHOOL BUSES!!!!

how many kids have broken their front teeth on the seat in front of them, because they did not have a seat belt on? no statistics available, of course.....
