I agree with you Sandhills, so much better when its falling down instead of pelting you in the face! Radio, my dog is the same way, in and out!
Up here, its turning to slush... yuck....

SCGranny? Wondering about you and how you are doing in this blast from the north. Heard of some electricity out in your area and even some around here due to wind.

She is probably so excited that she is outside all bundled up building a snowman. On the south side of the house of course. I forgot to ask, do you have a good windbreak SCgranny at your place?

Default Still waiting....

No snow yet!
The wind has been ripping out of the north, so I think it has all blown past me south and east to ya'll! LOL

The power is still on here; hasn't even flickered. But it doesn't matter; I've cooked on a wood stove before and we filled the kero lamps yesterday. The wood stove is cheerfully popping with heat from a pile of glowing logs, and we are snug as bugs. We probably won't even let school out at this rate! Alto they say 4 inches total accumulation by Thursday night, all I have are blowing leaves. Sigh.

Don't worry, once I get snow, there'll be snow men... and snow sculptures.. and snow angels... and ... hee hee... But NO yellow snow! too cold!!! LOL

Well, we got zero accumualation here. Never stuck to the ground. Sounds like Broken Bow, North Platte and McCook got there snow with more on the way. They have seemed to lower the amount for the Kearney area.

No snow here, but some moisture just the same which is always good. A bit chilly here this am, wind has simmered down quite a bit from yesterday. Hopefully you folks down south will see any additional moisture you get as snow and not in the form of ice. Stay warm and be safe.

I just spent the day building up the old wood pile for the wood stove this winter. Couldn't of picked a better day to do. Not sure if reached 60 or not, but sunny and a great fall day. Keep them coming.

OK, the National Weather Service is such a tease! LOL Winter Storm Watch in effect from this afternoon til tomorrow nite. Blowing snow tomorrow night, possible accumulations of 3-6 inches - all depending of course on how fast the cold air impacts the slow moving rainstorms.

I have no faith in predictions, of course. Que sera sera. Just worried about my dau driving from SC this weekend for a visit. Can anyone tell me how well they keep I-80, the cut-over (Hwy 2) from I-29, and Hwy 83 North Platte to Valentine free of ice and snow? She'll be driving that way Sunday, maybe Sunday evening.

I believe your area is the southern edge of the winter weather. South Dakota is suppose to get the brunt of it. I know eastern Nebraska has a chance of thunderstorms tonight and central Nebraska we just have a chance of rain. I have seen forecasts for a wet Sunday as well, but as rain.

I'm guessing your daughter shouldn't have any problems, maybe run into some rain. To answer your question the state does the best job they can with I-80 as its the main road through Nebraska. Hwy 2 will also be a high priority. I would worry a little about Hwy 83 since it has so many wide open spaces. If you ever want to check roads you can call 511 or check out this website:

Nebraska Department Of Roads

Hope your daughter has a safe trip and let us know if you get some snow. By the way, your daughter can save some time if she gets off the interstate at Grand Island Hwy 281 exit. Take Hwy 281 north to Ne Hwy 2. Then take Hwy 2 west (northwest actually) to Thedford, then head on north on Hwy 83.
