Any specifics? I'm kinda looking for:

1. no service-don't worry about termites
2. annual inspection only
3. quarterly Sentricon bait trap monitoring (price?)
4. spraying

Are termites something easily avoided if I just check around my foundation for termites traveling to the wood parts of my home and not keep wood(food) laying around for them? Ever heard of anyone getting termite damage or had damage yourself? Thanks

I bought a new home and was told that within 3-4 years I should have a termite company come out and drill holes into the foundation to insert chemicals to prevent termites that are a major problem here in middle TN. I was told by a neighbor that it will cost about $1,200 to do this! I'm not looking forward to spending all that money. When I live in NY & CT, we never had to do anything unless we found termites which wasn't often.

Default Termite jobs with little drilling & cost

I wanted to prevent termites from damaging my home. I called a few termite companies around Nashville and used ArmaXX Pest Control. They used a plan called Termidor Perimeter plus that did not require a bunch of drilling. It also was much cheaper than $1200. It cost around $500 for my house and I got a great warranty.

here is the companys web site

After the initial $500, do you have to have them come back at certain intervals for retreatment and/or inspection. Do you know how much that will cost you if it this is done?

Lowes sells the bait stakes for $70 for a set of 20. The kit comes with an auger for digging the hole and easy to follow instructions. They recommend checking the bait every 6 months and replacing the stakes every year. They also sell termite spray in a gallon jug.

Our house was under contract with a pest control company, but the termite bait traps were empty. I told the guy that comes by once a month and he said that the termite thing was a separate contract and I'd have to call to have them come out. He said to expect at least $500 to service the bait stakes and do a treatment. That's when we went to Lowes. I installed new bait stakes and I spray the perimeter of the house once a month for an annual cost of less than $100.

I have used a small, locally owned company for both pest and termite control for the last 14 years.

They check the termite stations quarterly - the charge is $56 (quarterly) whether they replace the bait stations or not.

FWIW, they have found termites munching at the bait stations - which is way better than my house.
