I'm not sure if they're mosquitos. They are around morning, noon, and night. They look like mosquitos and when you hit them with a fly swatter, blood comes out all over the wall. I take a paper towel to wipe the blood off. Yesterday afternoon I was in my backyard and hit one on my leg which then got covered in blood from it.

Does anyone know if they are mosquitos? We dread thinking of going outside with the dogs and even mowing the lawn because they see us and coming attacking.

If their bites itch, than they're probably mosquitos. Off or some other anti-bug skin spray should protect you. I water my flowers at night and spray Bull Frog bug spray and it keeps them off of me.

They sound like mosquitos. They can get quite large around here if that is where you're having trouble identifying them. Spray is always good to protect yourself. Of course, you can also invest in some citranella candles/tiki torches to ward them off when you want to enjoy your back yard a little bit. I don't know why it is, but some people are like magnets to them. And others can stay outside all summer long and not get bitten. I am definitely more like the magnet folks.

I guess as my husband said, bugs grow a lot bigger and more of them down south. I am one of those people that get bit when others don't.

If it makes you feel any better, our bugs have nothing on the gulf coast states. Louisana and Florida are the worst, I think.

Default Now boarding flight 747....lol

Here in Florida we have 747 size mosquitos and we also have ones that look similiar but don't bite called "blind mosquitos", both quite annoying.

You may consider planting some lemongrass around your sitting area in the yard; lemongrass is a natural deterrant to mosquitos and other annoying bugs. Not to mention, it will add life to your yard. Good luck

LOL. I grew up in Cleveland with many mosquitoes coming from stagnant pools of fresh water nearby. The mosquitoes that didn't bite were called "Canadian Soldiers"!

We have 2 fly swatters handy all the time. They are constantly coming in through the door.
