Hi,

I currently live in Wisconsin and am looking to move after graduation to the Nashville area. After reading the information on Antioch, I'm a little nervous. I was hoping to move to Antioch or Hermitage, because they seem to be more reasonable than some of the other areas in town, especially Brentwood or Franklin, which would be pretty steep for my budget.

Anyway, my degree will be in Health Information Technology, so I'm very eager to "connect" and (or) find out as much as I can about good companies to work for there and also decent and safe rentals for a young single woman. I don't have much crime where I live now, in a rural suburb of Milwaukee, and obviously don't want to get into a precarious situation. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

There are other areas around Nashville that are less expensive than Brentwood/Franklin and are still nice.

A large part of the medical community is located on the west side of town. That includes Vanderbilt Hospital, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital (they just expanded and now they're expanding again), Baptist Hospital, the headquarters of HCA, St. Thomas Hospital, and others.

If I were you I think I would look first at those areas that would make my commute as easy as possible. You might look in Bellevue if you interested in an apartment; a lot of single women who work at the hospitals live there (as I do). If you wanted something more rural, you could look further west in Kingston Springs or one of the other communities (although rentals might be harder to find there). The commute into town from the west side is a little easier than from the other outlying areas. Other areas you could look at include Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, and the areas south of Nashville that are not quite in Antioch. Hermitage or Donelson might be okay; I just don't know those areas as well.
