To connor99 , good luck with your teaching search, but be prepared it can be difficult.. Maybe with your special Ed teaching it may be easier, my husband has been trying since March to get a job in the school districts, (has his Master's , has 7 years teaching, 3 yrs in administration, and already has his teaching license and admin license for Tn). I was told that Williamson county likes you to be a substitute first to see if they like you, not sure if that is true or not. You could live in Williamson County and travel a little ways to teach maybe. I would try Rutherford, Maury, Franklin Special School District, and Metro Nashville. Williamson is the best in the area, maybe that is why it is so hard to get on there. Right now I live in the Spring Hill area, have been house hunting in both Franklin and Spring Hill, you can get a larger house for the $ in Spring Hill, just be prepared the traffic can be horrible !!!! It is easy to get into Franklin from Spring Hill, well if you avoid I-65 , construction happening now and traffic can back up , took me over an hour last saturday to go less than 10 miles.
Good luck with your search, hope you can make it to this area of Tennessee, been here 3 1/2 months and love love love it !

On a side note, if anyone has any advice on schools that you would recommend to teach in or schools that you would not recommend to teach in would be greatly appreciated as well.

Don't be afraid to look into Metro Nashville Public Schools. The commute is not horrible and there are some schools that are close to Williamson County. I am familiar with JT Moore Middle School (Green Hills area) and the elementary schools that feed into this school (Julia Greene is well known). There are also a few schools in Maury County that are close to the Williamson County line (near homes in Spring Hill) that may work for you.

You may find it tough to secure a position in Williamson County, but perhaps subbing at first may get your foot in the door. Although the pay is certainly less, there are many preschools in the area that hire regularly. Additionally there are many private schools locally (Battleground Academy, Brentwood Academy, etc.) Perhaps these may offer other employment opportunities.
