We will be moving to the Franklin/Brentwood area and was wondering if any of you live there? If so, can you tell me a little about where I will be living? I hear that Franklin has something called "Dickens Christmas". Are you familiar with that? It sounds fun.
Thanks,
Donna

Well, I don't live too far from there, but I live in Metro Nashville. I'll let the fine folks of Williamson County tell you about Franklin and Brendwood.

Let's see if I can tell whether you're actually moving to Franklin or to Brentwood . . . How big is your SUV? If it's bigger than a mobile home, you're probably moving to Brentwood. ;-))) (just teasing)

If you're interested in Christmas stuff, the Opryland Hotel has a big Christmas light show every year (millions of lights) and the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum has a big Christmas tree exhibit. Also, the Belle Meade Plantation puts on a 1800's Christmas. I'm sure downtown Franklin put on some kind of Christmas event . . . I seem to remember something called a Dickens Christmas.

Regarding the Dickens' Christmas in Franklin, this was the best that I could find just doing a quick search. I have never been to the event. There will probably be a lot more about this when it gets closer.

You'll like living in Franklin if you can afford it. It has a small town feel with big city amenaties. Homes can be expensive and you can probably buy more home in an area like Spring Hill or Thomson's Station.

We are actually going up tomorrow. My 7-year-old granddaughter (the biggest reason for the move) is going to attend the school my son is hoping to get her into this Thursday and Friday. I am anxious to see everything as I have never lived anywhere but in this community in Alabama. I will let you all know what I think when I return.
Thanks for all the helpful replies.
By the way, my son is a musician but we don't any have a SUV......yet...;-)

Well, if I were writing a one-sentence description of Franklin and Brentwood it might be something like . . .

Brentwood . . . very conservative, very family oriented, very well-to-do, very large houses, very religious, very expensive vehicles, very successful kids (for the most part), very exclusive . . . and just a little snobbish.

Franklin . . . a classic, relatively affluent, small southern town that has had a few growing pains in the last few years (due to its desirability) but that has still retained a measure of its small-town charm.

I live in Nashville, but right over the Brentwood Border. Franklin does have a Dicken's of A christmas. It is very nice! I went there last year.
Here is a Site about Franklin-http://www.franklinis.com/
Franklin has a real downtown with cute shops, some antique and Restaurants.
Brentwood has borders all over the place. Parts of Brentwood are in Davidson County, the larger part in Williamson County. A good deal of Brentwood's new subdivisions are off Concord Rd. That is the border I am close to, as it has a couple of areas where it borders Brentwood.
Good Luck,
Diane

Default Franklin

Hi Dkaye,

I live in Franklin and absolutely love it! I've been in the Nashville area for 13 years and have lived everywhere from Hermitage to Antioch to Inglewood and now Franklin, where I plan to stay put.

Franklin is very family -oriented and has a great small town feel, especially in the area where the downtown square is. One of the things I love most are the people...very friendly. And, you can be in Cool Springs for all the shopping conveniences one moment and then drive less than 5 miles and be in the open country with corn fields and horse farms. It's beautiful, hilly and full of wonderful things to do.

Hope you enjoy your visit and find it to be all that I do.
