Please share lol

I'm a 39 year old female who moved here last year and the one of the things I miss the most is my old PCP. She was great - always took concerns seriously, had a sense of humor, and was just incredible all around.

I live in Joelton but am more than willing to drive a bit to have a great doctor!

Thanks in advance!

Apparently, nobody does. Heh. I know I don't have one; I see a Nurse Practitioner on the regular. She takes care of my checkups, female parts and the usual winter months bronchial weirdness that needs curing. I have had the best luck with nurse practitioners--they work closely with doctors so they can give you prescriptions. Most of them are female which makes me more comfortable and the majority of them are just more personable than most doctors I've ever had. I know this probably isn't the rule but it's what I know from my experiences.

St. Thomas Health Services on 52nd and Charlotte Avenue is where I go to see Wendi Butler, NPC. She's awesome but you must make an appointment two weeks in advance--so you can't always get seen if you're acutely ill. They are very busy over there but the staff has always been the sweetest. I've never had a bad experience at St. Thomas, so look into that hospital if you don't mind a drive--and I think there's a few doctor reviewing websites you could look through if nobody else comes through on this board.

I had a big long post about how wonderful Cumberland Family Practice is, but when I posted a link in it, I had issues and it deleted it! :/ They are amazing and Dr. Couret is my fav! My mom drives 45 min to see him when she is in need of a doctor! 615-824-4244! That is in Hendersonville too.. Not too far from Joelton! My mother in law lives in Whites Creek and it takes her 20 min to get here!

I wish I knew of a primary care physician to recommend. My doctor of 20 years retired and I haven't found any other internist who is in my opinion better than mediocre. But, If you ever need an ob/gyn, Dr. Barbara Nylander is wonderful.

Be careful when considering these online recommendations. I took a recommendation for a dentist once from city-data and it was a terrible experience. The dentist said that I needed two root canals and he wanted to do them. I double checked with an endodontist who told me neither root canal was needed. It would be very easy for physicians/dentists who need patients (or their friends or family members) to recommend themselves on these boards.

My PCP decided to become a SAHM. Her partner is good but I can never get in when I'm sick. I'm thankful that I have friends who are doctors even if they aren't primary care docs because they help me when I can't get in and need something simple like a refill on my inhaler.
