We are taking a trip up to Nashville next week to look at the area and decide if we want to relocate from West Palm Beach, FL. The two suburbs we are really excited to see are Franklin and Hendersonville. Can anyone recommend sub divisions in those areas that are in the low 200k range we should look at?

Also are there any other suburbs we should see while we are there?

Thanks

Definitely check out RealTracs before you come down, it's the best clearinghouse for Middle TN real estate out there:

RealTracs Real Estate Mid-South Property Finder

Hendersonville is in Sumner County, Franklin is in Williamson.

As for subdivisions in that price range, there are plenty in Hendersonville. You can buy a new home in that price range in the Saundersville Station and Creekside at Station Camp subdivisions. Those are 2 that come right to mind, but check on RealTracs and you should be able to find a lot of hits.

Other popular suburbs are Mt. Juliet to the east, Brentwood (just north of Franklin). You might also consider Goodlettsville and Gallatin to the north side of town. What is most important to you in a subdivision or suburb? Schools? Entertainment? Shopping? Ease of commute? That will help us guide you in the direction you're looking for.

Good luck and let us know if you have questions.

Mt. Juliet is lovely. So is Brentwood. Franklin, I can do without to be honest. Oh and if you are going to Nashville and want touristy stuff to do, go see Tootsie's Orchard Lounge.

Here are a few in Hendersonville that would have homes in your range...
Mansker Farms, Fountain Brooke, Alexandrea Place, Saundersville Station, Vintage Knoll, Wyncrest, Wynbrooke, Lawson Point, Creekside

Like Don Said,
If you give some more details of what is important to you (close to lake, parks, shopping, schools, quick commute, etc.) I can narrow it down even more.

The commute to Nashville isn't important to us as we wont be working there. We are looking for a family friendly neighborhood and being near parks and lakes would be a plus.

Also should we try to find a cheaper home in Williamson County or go up to Sumner County where there is more in our price range?

Hendersonville has Old Hickory Lake and lots of marinas/boat docks. There are also a few really nice parks: Drakes Creek Park is huge and has a small lake access, walking trails, playground (I'm pretty sure), and lots of baseball/softball and soccer fields. Across Gallatin Road from Drakes Creek is huge playground area called Kids Kingdom. Lots of lakefront area, places to feed the ducks and fish, and also several tennis courts too. There's also Veteran's Park off of Indian Lake Blvd that has a few baseball fields, a skate park, an outdoor basketball court, and in-line hockey rinks (rinks are currently being rebuilt due to flood damage). Sanders Ferry Park (on Sanders Ferry Rd) has a very large lake shoreline...plenty of fishing opportunities, a boat ramp, disc golf, and about 8 large picnic shelters. Finally, there's a really neat park in Goodlettsville (about 10-15 minutes from Hville) called Moss-Wright Park. There's a recreation of a frontier fort that's staffed with reinactors, a historic frontier home, and miles of walking/jogging trails along with picnic areas, a playground, and ballfields.

In short, Hendersonville has a lot of park/lake activities to do.

Also, Mt. Juliet is known as the "City between the lakes" because it borders both Old Hickory and Percy Priest Lake. Their public parks aren't as plentiful or developed as Hendersonville's, but they are still nice. Charlie Daniels' Park is pretty neat. There's also Long Hunter State Park very close with ample outdoor opportunities there (hiking, fishing, boating, picnic).

I don't think you can go wrong with Hendersonville, but obviously I'm biased. Likewise, I'm sure you can find something that fits your need in Williamson County as well. I'm trying to be objective and I honestly think if you can get more house for your money in Hendersonville, that's the better option. It will all depend on which area you fall in love with the most.

It can be done, if you don't mind buying and older home or a home in the outskirts in Fairview, Thompson Station or Spring Hill.

The median home price in Franklin is just over $285,000, and the median in Brentwood is nearly $500,000.

Here is a link to all Williamson County homes in your price range right now:
